My favourite trainer. Doesn’t hurt that it has my name on it. Get it here.
Andy Baddeley
Andy Baddeley is Britain’s top metric miler, an Olympic finalist in Beijing in 2008, and a World Championship finalist in Osaka in 2007.
The first male British 1500m runner to make a World Final in 10 years, Andy is also a European finalist and Commonwealth finalist and has his sights firmly set on Olympic success in 2012 (London).
Graduating from Cambridge University with a master’s degree in engineering in 2004, Andy committed to an athletics career based in London. This career became possible after teaming up with Coach Andy Hobdell in early 2004, and continues thanks to a fantastic support network in and around his home in southwest London.

Support Team
Andy’s network of support in London continues to provide both the technical services and day-to-day encouragement necessary to pursue athletics as a full-time career.
Andy receives a variety of support services, both from Lee Valley Athletics Centre, and from St Mary’s University College in Twickenham. Andy would like to thank St Mary’s and in particular Dick Fisher for all their support, and for the ongoing use of their facilities. The following key members of the support staff regularly work with Andy:
Physiologist
Charlie Pedlar is a leading physiologist based at St Mary’s and has worked closely with Andy to ensure his training is tailored specifically to suit his physiology.
Strength and conditioning coach
Raph Brandon is the lead EIS strength and conditioning coach and has helped Andy integrate a new strength and conditioning programme into his existing training regimen.
Physiotherapy
James Moore and Lily Devine have become vital members of Andy’s team, and are regularly in contact to keep track of his physiotherapy needs.
Training partners
Mike Skinner, Mark Draper, Neil Gamester, Matt Carlisle, Lee Reynolds, Katrina Wootton, Benedict Whitby, Tom Bedford and Emily Pidgeon are all involved in Andy’s training, and he is incredibly grateful for all the miles that they have put in together.
Coach
Andy Hobdell has developed a close relationship with Andy since they joined forces in early 2004, and his continued guidance plays a central role in every aspect of the support team.
About Team New Balance
Andy trains extensively with fellow Team New Balance member Mark Draper, and spends time training with other team members throughout the season.
Sponsors
Olympic success depends on Andy’s continued dedication and his ability to concentrate solely on his training and racing schedule. As such, financial stability plays an important role, with continued support from sponsors proving invaluable.
In return for their support, sponsors can expect to receive increasing levels of positive publicity as Andy’s profile, together with the profile of athletics in the UK, rise to new heights in the build-up to the London Olympics.
Through press interviews (written, television and radio), well-placed branding (e.g. car advertising, press conference attire), corporate appearances and via this website, Andy is well equipped to promote your company in an eloquent and professional manner.
Please do not hesitate to contact Andy if you have any questions or would be interested in working with him in any capacity.
Andy is incredibly grateful to the following sponsors:

Together with their impartial, personalised advice, and backed by thorough independent research, BestInvest are happy to use the benefits of their purchasing power and operating efficiency to drive down costs for their clients.
As part of their BestInSport initiative, Andy is in regular contact with Chairman Peter Howland and is very grateful for the faith that BestInvest continues to place in him.

Their national portfolio includes some of the biggest and best events in the UK, the most famous of which is the BUPA sponsored Great North Run, which is firmly established as the world’s biggest half marathon, with 50,000 entrants participating each year.
Based in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and headed by Olympic medallist Brendan Foster, NOVA International has generously provided Andy with bursaries to help with his training. Andy has enjoyed success at several of NOVA’s world-class events, including the Great Edinburgh Cross Country and the Great North City Games.
